The 2025 Patin D’or lived up to the hype this year.
After our usual 8 month training camp, 28 rough and ready combatants were in elite shape and up for the challenge. A few last minute roster change meant Red had to dip into the Junior league to add Vivian Hinch as a pre-game call-up.
It was a hot and sweaty rink as both teams felt the importance of the moment during the warmups.
The game started slow as each gladiator sized up their opponent. Shane sneered at Pat as Kade picked which Hinch to blow past. A tough clean game ensued until Red broke the tension with the first goal.
The game remained tight with teams exchanging scores and we entered the final 10 minutes tied at 3. Both Jim and Matt brought their A-games.
But a goal-mouth scramble saw a knuckler slip past for Red to be up 4-3.
White pulled their goalie and had every Manning they could find on the ice but Red weathered the storm to come out victorious.
Tired and sweaty, we waddled over to the SI CLub for drinks and appys. Yes, beers were drunk from the Golden Skate as per tradition.
Congrats to Team Red. You’ll see your name etched on the trophy over the summer and the website will reflect your glory for all time.
Thanks for a great TFHL season.
